Snook is a Temple Terrace, Florida based ska group. Though frontman Dan "Ska Man Dan" Bakst claims to be influenced by bands like Reel Big Fish, MU330, and Planet Smashers, many critics contend that the band has developed their own unique sound.

[edit] History

The original lineup consisted of Dan Bakst(bass/vocals), Andres Moguel(saxophone), and Chris Slaven(guitar/vocals), who organized in order to make a Christmas album in late 2005. They called themselves 'The Baritones'. Slaven soon left, though, so Moguel and Bakst went on record several acoustic songs. They picked up bass player Miguel Diaz and drummer Stephen 'S-Dawg' Bilbo. Dan Bakst took complete control over vocals and guitar. They also recieved help from George Kefalas(trumpet). They soon split ways with drummer Bilbo, and picked up the former drummer of Texas Clam Bake, Matt Chimato. They also experimented with a "Frankie"(trumpet), and Eric Abiogadia(trombone). The two new members didn't work out, though, and quit. Due to clashing ideas, the Baritones split ways with drummer Chimato after only 2 shows. They changed their name to Snook, and even though Bakst went through a depression period, he focused on learning to sing in key and working on his acoustic solo side project. During this 5 month period, he wrote new material, which he considedered vastly superior. They then picked up drummer Corey Kramer, and played their first show with their friends, CIO. They continued to play houses and smaller venues, and consist of Bakst, Diaz, Kramer, Moguel, Kefalas, and Abiogadia.
