Snap is a search engine that displays possible search queries as you type and shows results with a logo of the top level domain.

The Snap site also includes:

  • A find as you type suggestion tool for popular search queries.
  • A news filtering device called Snap News, which lets users search and filter news in an as-you-type fashion.
  • A statistics page showing revenue, search and advertiser statistics.
  • Three types of paid advertising, including standard pay per click, fixed cost pay per action and variable cost per action. In the cost per action options, advertisers pay Snap either a fixed fee or a percentage of the total sale. The advertiser is only charged when the action is completed. An action may be a sale or the completion of an online form.

Snap was founded by Idealab in October 2004. The name "Snap" was purchased and no longer has any connection with the earlier search engine of the same name.
