[edit] First name vs. Surname in running text
The repeated use of only the subject's first name in referring to her is common practice in Hebrew text, but is not so in English and certainly not in an encyclopaedia article. The convention in English-language text is to refer to the subject by surname only. In the past, a woman's title was added, e.g. Mrs./Miss/Ms. Levi. To avoid this clumsy and obtrusive construction, contemporary editors will rewrite, e.g. "the singer" and extensive use of the personal pronoun. -- Hope this helps, Deborahjay 08:59, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
