SmartWater

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SmartWater is an anti-criminal sprinkler system that sprays a burglar with an invisible fluid, which can then be detected and analysed by Police to secure a conviction. The special fluid is indelible and also contains a unique code that correlates the assailant to a specific location.[1]

In the summer of 2006, Humberside Police identified houses with high-risk items and marked residents' valuables with SmartWater free of charge. A separate bottle of fluid was used for each resident allowing the owner to be tracked from the unique code.
