Small Faces (1996) is a Scottish film directed by Gillies MacKinnon about gangs in 1960s Glasgow. Starring: Iain Robertson, Joseph McFadden, Steven Duffy, Kevin McKidd, Laura Fraser, Mark McConnochie, Clare Higgins and Garry Sweeney.

Produced in 1995 by Skyline Productions in association with the BBC Film Fund, subsequently released in 1996 and distributed by Pathé -a division of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. The film received a BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) Certificate of 15 (intended for audience's aged 15 and over) within the United Kingdom. Some argued that because of the high levels of violence and adult themes portrayed in this film, an 18 Certificate would have been more suitable.

This film encompasses the real spirit of Glasgows gangland life in the 1960's. The Loyalty and commitment to your local gangland area went without question, anyone considered a traitor was unquestionably met with violent force/intimidation and often murder. Many people will agree that Glasgows generation throughout the 1960's was the "best" they have experienced in terms of culture/music and subsequently the most "violent" generation in terms of local rivalry/gangland wars.

The UK's mainly male dominated readership magazine 'Loaded' described this well done, genius of a film "Life, death, sex, violence, alcohol, airguns, 60s' babes in short skirts -Small Faces has the lot" -those who have seen this award winning film will agree that review was a "to the point" definition of "Small Faces"

A Glasweigan form of Scots-English was transformed into a very "standardised" dialect of English to encompass a wider audience.

The film was shot on location in Glasgow. The piece won the title of 'Best British Film' at the Edinburgh Film Festival.

Made by BBC FILMS IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE GLASGOW FILM FUND. A BILLY MACKINNON/SKYLINE PRODUCTION by GILLIES and BILLY MACKINNON.
