The sole musical output of The Flesh Volcano, 1987's Slut sees Marc Almond and Clint Ruin creating uneasy industrial-cum-cabaret tracks. The former The Immaculate Consumptive bandmates' 12" EP features Almond's vocal work over Ruin's queasy soundscapes. The EP was released by Some Bizzare Records, then home to both Almond's and Ruin's solo projects.

[edit] Reissues

A number of confusingly-named compact disc reissues of Slut were released in the mid-1990s, bulked up to album-length with numerous bonus tracks. All reissues dropped the Flesh Volcano artist name and instead credited "Marc Almond & Foetus," possibly hoping to gain more exposure by separately naming Almond and Ruin's main project.

In 1997, the Slut EP appeared on two different CDs reissued by Some Bizzare [1]. The first, Violent Silence•Flesh Volcano, appended Marc Almond's Violent Silence and shut out Ruin from the rest of the CD. However, it was almost immediately recalled and a different CD, Flesh Volcano•Slut, took its place, adding additional Almond/Ruin collaborations in place of the Almond solo work. This second version was also released by Thirsty Ear, simply titled Slut, in February 1998.
