Slovak Television

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slovak Television (in Slovak: Slovenská televízia) is a state-owned public television network in Slovakia. It was created 1991 from the 1956-created Slovak part of previous Czechoslovak Television. Slovenská televízia is funded from a combination of a television licence, advertising, and government funding.

Currently, it broadcasts on two channels, STV1 and STV2 (since 2004 called Jednotka [translation to English: "One"] and Dvojka ["Two"]), covering almost all the territory of Slovakia.

[edit] Availablility

Jednotka and Dvojka are available on Analogue Terrestrial Television, Cable, and on the Astra 3 Satellite at 23.5°E. They moved from the Eurobird 1 satellite (28.5°E) in late 2005, which caused complaints from people in parts of the country who could not receive the signal from the new position even with a satellite dish 1 metre in diameter.
