Sloncek

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sloncek (meaning "little elephant" in Slovenian) is the pseudonym for the man now known to be named Andrej Preston. He is the founder of the former BitTorrent site Suprnova.org and now the spokesman for the BitTorrent-based p2p application eXeem.

It is understandable that he wishes to remain anonymous, for although he has never been directly targeted, the torrent community he almost solely represents (probably due to a lack of other willing figureheads) has a reputation for using the technology to break copyright laws by facilitating transfers of copyrighted materials such as films, commercial software, and music albums.

The Slovenian publication Mladina revealed in November 2004 that he was 18 years old and a student at Waldorf High School in Ljubljana, Slovenia. [1] After having shut down Suprnova.org in December 2004, he became the target of a police investigation in early 2005, and two computers of his were confiscated. In October 2005 the prosecutor announced that no charges would be filed and the computers were returned.
