Slo Burn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Slo Burn was a short-lived stoner rock band formed in 1996 after the demise of Californian stoner rock outfit Kyuss. They released just one record, an EP entitled Amusing the Amazing. The band was comprised of former Kyuss frontman and vocalist John Garcia (again appearing on vocals), Damon Garrison (bass), Chris Hale (guitar) and Brady Houghton (drums). Slo Burn toured with Ozzfest in 1997 but split up toward the end of the tour.
Slo Burn had a sound not dissimilar to that of Kyuss, which can be attributed to the easily-identifiable voice of John Garcia and the production work Chris Goss did on the EP release. However, the music was more direct and less layered or complex than that of sometimes psychedelic Kyuss.
Brady Houghton Erickson (formerly Brady Patrick Houghton) is a singer, guitarist, and drummer known mostly for being the drummer in Slo Burn. Since Slo Burn], he has released numerous solo albums; none of them gaining nearly as much success as Slo Burn. He is currently living in Los Angeles and is the singer/guitarist in the alternative rock band entitled Sunday Drivers, which has acquired some success in the LA underground music scene.
