Slip 'N Slide

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Slip 'N Slide is a toy manufactured by Wham-O for use on lawns in the summer. It includes a long sheet of thin plastic, flanked on both sides by thin tubes. These tubes can be attached to any ordinary garden hose. Water runs through these tubes and out small perforated holes. The surface then becomes very slippery, enabling users to dive onto the plastic and slide the length of the sheet.

The Slip 'N Slide is known to have caused many injuries over the years, including major neck trauma to adults. There have even been cases where young boys' nipples have been moderately sloughed off to the point of excruciating pain followed by minor bleeding.[citation needed] Although these toys are joyous, they can be addictive, and even lead to death in certain circumstances.[citation needed]

Household items such as dish soap can also be used to reduce friction on the sheet for a more enjoyable ride.

The "Slip 'N Slide" reached its apotheosis with the Crocodile Mile.
