SLFPA

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - East will be a new regional levee board which will oversee flood protection methods on the Mississippi River's east bank. It will replace the Orleans Levee District (with the exception of Algiers), the East Jefferson (Parish) Levee District, the Lake Borgne Basin Levee District (St. Bernard Parish), the St. Tammany Levee District, the Tangipihoa Levee District, and the east banks of St. John the Baptist and St. Charles Parishes. It will begin operations on January 1, 2007.

[edit] Board Members

The SLFPA-East will consist of eleven officials, all of whom will be appointed by the Governor of Louisiana. At least five members of this new board will be required to be an engineer in a geologically relevant field, such as hydrology. One member must be a civil engineer, and another member must be a geologist.
