Sleeps with Angels is a 1994 album by Neil Young and Crazy Horse released on the Warner Bros./Reprise label.
The album was conceived as a conscious attempt to recapture some of the atmospheric experiments Young and Crazy Horse played around with in the "After The Goldrush" era. Though the majority of the album was recorded before the fact, Young created the title track after the death of Kurt Cobain, who quoted him in his suicide note. As a result, "Sleeps With Angels" ended up more than reminiscent of "Tonight's The Night"; the album is practically a (more sober) 90's update of the former record, down to the use of the old-school black Reprise label found on both releases. "Sleeps With Angels" is arguably the most versatile and experimental record Young made with Crazy Horse; the songs range from the dramatic piano-led "Driveby" to the spooky "Safeway Cart" to the epic, fourteen minute "Cowgirl In The Sand" style guitar jam workout "Change Your Mind". "Sleeps With Angels" would also be Young's last collaboration with longtime co-producer David Briggs, who would die of cancer in 1995.
