Slavonic Dances
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Slavonic Dances were a series of 16 works composed in 2 separate groups, Opus 46 and Opus 72. They are similar to Brahms' Hungarian Dances, but based on Slavonic themes rather than Hungarian. They were originally scored for piano four hands, but were soon after orchestrated. The types of dances included are the furiant, the dumka, the polka, the soudeská, the skočná, the mazurka, the odzemek, the spacirka, the kolo and the polonaise.
