Formed in Montreal, Quebec in 1994 Slaves on Dope was a nu-metal band who gained a small share of popularity with the 2000 album, Inches From the Mainline as well as an appearance on the "SnoCore" tour. They were signed to Ozzy Osbournes label, Divine Records and released their Inches From The Mainline album on it, before branching out to Bieler Bros to release their last album, 2003's Metafour.
Although their KoЯn/Tool/Deftones-influence of nu-metal had not been much different from other bands at the time, they did release one additional album, Metafour (2003), before going on hiatus in 2004. Metafour saw a change of genre, where Slaves on Dope picked up a more Alternative-Metal sound. Their song "Stick It Up" appeared on the Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 soundtrack. And in addition to appearing to the SnoCore Tour, they also made an appearance on Ozzfest during the 2000 trek.
The hiatus started when vocalist Jason Rockman left to pursue a family while the other members went to pursue a short lived project.
