Originally developed by Rebellion, who also developed Alien vs. Predator (Jaguar), Skyhammer was later published by Songbird Productions for the Atari Jaguar in 2000.
The game's look and gameplay resemble the earlier Psygnosis PlayStation release G-Police, as the game world consists of a Blade Runner-esque cityscape. The framerate, however, is quite choppy and slow compared to newer games (or even those of the Jaguar itself), leaving many to dismiss the title as incomplete. The player controls a flying craft in a similar manner to Descent and has to partake in a number of missions involving objectives to combat crime in the city. Throughout the game money can be earned through successful kills, which can be spent on ship upgrades.
