[edit] Welcome to the India project
Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Please participate in any of our descendant workgroups that might interest you.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
- Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Ganeshk (talk) 05:41, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request
This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 22:21, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Plain of Bagua
Hi, I just would like to know which are your reasons for suggesting that this section of the article "Amazonas Region" should be merge into "Plain of Bagua"?? Thanks for your answer. --Evelyn Zuñiga 19:39, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- (The foll. is placed in the talk section of "Plain of Bagua" and copied here.)
- I had suggested moving the section "Route to Huallaga Central: The plain of Bagua" to the article, "Plain of Bagua". It looks the content is an exact repeat, probably somone copying things out of one & into the other (I'm not sure which). If the main article is too long, it makes sense to create a separate article, but leave a "Main" reference with a summary in the original article.
- This note is in response to Evelyn Zuñiga on my talk page & I don't have the direct address, so can't place a talk message there. Please delete the merge suggestion if it doesn't make sense. Thanks. Skumarla 23:51, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request
Please leave a edit summary with your edits. That will help others understand what you were doing on a page. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 05:02, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merge help
I see you have interest in geographical articles. Can I request your help merging some articles that were created in the user space by a bot? Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 05:17, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- I will try to do this. I was trying to understand the instructions and was having trouble making sure I got it right. For example, for Chennai, there's one that has strikethrough and another right next to it. It looks like the content from the struck-through version should be moved or copied into the real page (which doesn't have strike-through text). Is that right? I'll re-read the instructions and try to do one and you can let me know if I did it right. When I do one, I'll mention it here. Skumarla 07:36, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
It will be a great idea to work on a project with an Indian but if it is related to my interest too. At present I am learning wiki. Well how you added so many colourful things in your user page? Those are infomative about you.
Can you help me if I have a problem in understanding wiki.

- Hi- I'm relatively new to this too but the basics are very easy to learn. Almost all of what I have on my page are things I found on others' pages. You can find whatever's appropriate for you clicking on "edit this page" which will show you the source code. Just copy the things you want and then click on the cancel link and it will not change the page in the end. To get your username showing up (to be used primarily on talk pages) just type 4 tilde marks. When you edit a page. below the buttons it will say "Sign you name" to see what I mean. You can just type then after the first time.
- For India related articles, click on some of the links on my page (esp. my talk page) and you'll find things that interest you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Skumarla 02:29, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your bot
I noticed that your bot got blocked because it was unapproved. Please go through the bot approval process at WP:RFBA, explain the bot function and get it approved. Let me know if you have any questions related to this. -- Ganeshk (talk) 08:34, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi- I didn't realize that there was a request/approval process. I am unable to submit the request as that is also blocked. Should I submit that using this account instead of the bot account? I can't remember if that account was created while logged into this one. I can't do anything with the skumarlabot account and will wait to edit even using this account to make sure this also doesn't get into the same situation. I have already sent a message to the person that blocked the bot. Skumarla 09:01, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Are you able to edit?
Are you able to edit with your User:Skumarla account? I want to confirm your IP was not autoblocked. You can get your bot account unblocked after the WP:RFBA process is complete. Use your regular account until then. Once again, please advise if you are able to edit other pages using your regular account. -- Ganeshk (talk) 23:06, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, my regular account (skumarla) does work. On the bot page, it said it was an IP based block, but maybe that's a generic message. The bot account has been unblocked but I don't think the bot is approved yet - I'll put the link in the appropriate page to request that (I already submitted the request, but step 2 says I also need to edit a page which I will now do). Thanks for all the follow-up, Ganesh. Skumarla 02:35, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have added your bot approval request to the main-page at WP:RFBA. -- Ganeshk (talk) 02:53, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. Skumarla 07:10, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki/Virajpet
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Wiki/Virajpet, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and "Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day"). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Wiki/Virajpet. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. ZhongHan (Email) 07:46, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oops - I guess somehow the extra "wiki/" is in the URL and that may be why I ended up created the new article. I've pasted the additional content to the existing page, so this page should be deleted. Skumarla 07:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:RFBOT
Your recent bot approvals request has been approved. Please see the request page for details. When the bot flag is set it will show up in this log. -- RM 15:08, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi. Per Ram-Man's final approval [1], I've granted a bot flag to your bot. Cheers, Redux 15:54, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Reverts
I'm not an admin. Anyone can revert by simply loading up the previous version, and saving it. See WP:REVERT for more details. -- Selmo (talk) 16:01, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for showing me how to do this myself. Skumarla 05:15, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
