Skunkworks is a heavy metal album released in 1996 (see 1996 in music) by Bruce Dickinson.

Originally, Bruce intended for Skunkworks to be the debut album of a band by the same name. Accordingly, the album sounds quite different from Bruce's other solo-works. Additionally, the songs are relatively short, with most lasting around 3 minutes. The band didn't last and for his next solo project, Accident of Birth, he would team up with guitarist Roy Z again to produce a much more successful album.

Prior to the album's release Bruce cut his hair in order to distance himself from his image from his days with Iron Maiden. Ironically, he has kept the short hair since despite rejoining Iron Maiden in 1999 and returning to a more traditional style of Metal that he helped popularize with Maiden on his later solo releases.

In 2005, Skunkworks was re-released and the 2005 extended version included songs performed live, such as "Inertia", "Faith", "Innerspace", "The Prisoner" and other previously unreleased songs.
