Skopje Airport (IATA: SKP, ICAO: LWSK) (Аеродром Скопје or Aerodrom Skopje), also known as Petrovec Airport (named after its nearest village), is the largest and busiest international airport in the Republic of Macedonia. Serving the national capital Skopje, it is also the hub of MAT Macedonian Airlines.
[edit] Accident History
On 5 March 1993 a Palair Fokker F-100 PH-KXL crashed seconds after takeoff from Skopje runway 34 on a flight to Zürich. Investigation into the accident determined the cause of the accident to be the failure of the flight crew to have the aircraft deiced before departure. Of the 97 people on board 81 perished.
