[edit] Cross timeline link

http://www.dslnorthwest.net/~danwilcox/skinners_butte.html Original Research on my part, but there are some inaccuracies on this site. For example, the cross itself lights up from inside, not from spotlights and reflectors. I didn't think this link belonged in the article since it's POV and thus not the best source, but wanted to keep track of it here. Katr67 04:19, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] photograph

I added the photo from Eugene, Oregon which shows the view from atop the butte. One of these days, I might take some photos of the butte from its base or surrounding area.--Clipdude 05:27, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! Katr67 05:31, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

It looks like this happened, so I took away the reqphotoin tag. Power piglet 05:40, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Revision

I've added content (trying to not be POV motivated) from the 9th Federal Circuit (aka circus), to help with the history.

While a native of Eugene since 1959 (Born in Corvallis moved to Eugene in 1959), I have and always will have strong feelings about the fact that the cross should still be there.

Just my 6 cents worth (2 cents adjusted for inflation and the price of crude oil).

I'd like to applaud you for adding the 9th circuit info after it was requested you stop adding POV material. Normally I would prefer to see a paraphrase of the material than the actual court case cited here (and not just because I helped write some of the previous paragraph on the matter!), but I think in this case it definitely helps maintain WP:NPOV in what is apparently still a contentious issue. [edit] The Eugene High School Remark

The old Eugene High School used to be located (if memory serves me right) at the corner of 18th and either Jefferson or Washington.

Then again, I think before that it was located near/across from Hayward field.

I got ahold of South Eugene HS and they told me that in 1953 it was originally Eugene High School.

Hi, it looks like you answered your own question. :) Yes, the current South building was originally Eugene High School (the only high school in Eugene at the time), but Eugene High School had several locations before that. Also, when I went to South, I was told that it was originally designed to form the shape of an "E" from the air, but of course they had to add a back hallway, which destroyed the "E" shape, because the original design was impractical. I doubt that's true, but it makes a good story. P.S. Don't forget to sign your posts with 4 tildes, like this: ~~~~. Happy editing! Katr67 18:48, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
