[edit] Plot

Aurelia is a peaceful nation located on the southern edge of the Osean Continent. Cold climate and vast underground resources have kept Aurelia out of war and conflicts for many decades.

In 2020, however, the neighboring country of Leasath , under the command of Diego Gaspar Navarro, launched an invasion on Aurelia, using advanced technology such as the Gleipnir flying fortress. The Leasath attack was in retaliation for Aurelia's supposed involvement in promoting civil war in Leasath by aiding their enemies and providing supplies. However, it is eventually discovered that Leasath had an alternate motive for attacking Aurelia. Reduced to a single operating airbase, the remnants of the decimated Aurelian military banded together to strike back at the Leasath forces occupying Aurelia. At the forefront of this crusade is Gryphus Squadron, one of the last remaining Aurelian squadrons. The responsibility falls on Gryphus One to liberate Aurelia and restore peace to the land.

Confirmed Information:

  • This is another game by the Project Aces Team.
  • This game is set in the same world as all other Ace Combat games as of Ace Combat 2 by the Project Aces Team.
  • The player plays the role of the flight lead in Gryphus Squadron, of the Aurelian Air Force.
  • The game is in English, but has subtitles in the following other languages:
    • Japanese
    • English
    • French
    • German
    • Italian
    • Spanish
    • Hangul (Korean).
  • Wireless multiplayer support for up to four players. There is a Cooperative Mode versus 2-6 A.I. controlled fighters.
  • Multiplayer handicaps available.

  • Wingman command system is no longer available because of the limited number of buttons on PSP.
  • The player can choose different paint schemes for the aircraft.
  • Certain planes may be modified for improved gameplay by unlocking parts in Campaign Mode
    • Examples:
      • thrust-vectoring nozzles
      • canards
      • turbo engines
  • Radio chatter quality similar to that of Ace Combat 04.
  • graphics are of lower quality when compared to Ace Combat 04, primarily due to the PSP's lower resolution; though very good for a PSP game .
  • HUD is almost the same as the other AC games, except the player is allowed a visual of the target on the top-left and a Multi-Purpose Gauge.
  • Cutscenes are said to be similar to those of Ace Combat 04.
  • Medals are awarded by completing various objectives in Campaign Mode and Multiplayer.
  • One of the enemy superweapons is a massive airborne fortress.
    • It has optical camouflage, and is able to launch an SWBM (shock-wave burst missile)which has an attack similar in scope to that of Stonehenge in Ace Combat 04. It also has a Shock Cannon that will disintigrates objects near it . The fortress is called the Gleipnir.
  • Like other Ace Combat games, there are several Special Weapons per plane, though this time the weapon will look the same for each aircraft that carries it, rather than changing its looks to mirror a real-world equivalent.
  • There are four levels of difficulty.
  • You can choose your route through the campaign, which affects how the game progresses.
  • there are multiple mission branches

Upon finishing the game on Ace mode and finishing the SP mission (itself needing the player to beat every other mission on any difficulty), the player may purchase the Leasath super-fighter known as "Fenrir". The craft features an extremely narrow profile, angled wingtips to increase yaw performance, and a Coffin-type cockpit. Unlike the AI-flown Fenrir, the purchased version cannot cloak and wields no microwave weaponry; this is more than compensated for, however, by one of the craft's special weapons: a pair of Light Shock Wave Missiles with enough firepower to decimate an entire fleet (one LSWM will destroy almost every ship in the second fleet in the Armada mission, if fired at the carrier, sparing only a damaged Aegis cruiser).
