Skævinge

Skævinge is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Frederiksborg County in the northern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 68 km², and has a total population of 6,046 (2005). Its mayor is Ole Roed Jakobsen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Skævinge.

Neighboring municipalities are Hillerød to the east, Helsinge to the north, Frederiksværk and Frederikssund to the west, and Slangerup to the south.

By January 1, 2007 Skævinge municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Hillerød to form the new Hillerød municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 191 km² and a total population of ca. 43,337. The new municipality will belong to the new Region Hovedstaden ("Capital Region").
