The Skåne Regional Council (Region Skåne) is the overall political organisation of the region Skåne County in Sweden. Its county assembly is the highest political body in the region and its members are elected by the Scanians themselves, as opposed to the county administrative council that guards the interest of the state in the region under the chairmanship of the county governor. The regional council's main responsibility is for the public healthcare system, public transport and development within the region, which includes co-ordination of development of commerce, communication, culture and collaboration with other regions both in and outside of Sweden. This responsibility is implemented on a trial basis and extends up to and including 2010.

Region Skåne was created on Jan 1, 1999, and replaced the former Malmöhus County and Kristianstad County. By devolution the newly formed regional council assumed some power from the Skåne County Administrative Board, the state authority in Scania. Similar provisions had also been extended to the Västra Götaland Regional Council and the Gotland Council during a trial period. In Scania, the regional council also assumed county council tasks formerly handled by the municipality of Malmö.

The Regional Council, or Regional Parliament, assembles in the Scania House (Skånehuset) in Kristianstad. Next elections are scheduled to be held in conjunction with the national elections, on the third Sunday of September in 2010.

The executive body of the Skåne Regional Council is the Board of Commissioners (Regionstyrelsen). The current board president of the Skåne Regional Council is Jerker Swanstein, of the Swedish Moderate Party.
