Sita Air

Sita Air is an airline based in Kathmandu, Nepal, operating domestic flights. Its main base is Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, with hubs at Pokhara Airport and Nepalganj Airport. [1]

The airline got its air operators certificate in 2000 and was established in October 2000, but was unable to operate until 2003 due to political unrest in Nepal. [1] Operations started on 6 February 2003 with a single Dornier 228. A second was added in April 2003. [2] It is wholly owned by Priti Rana and has 100 employees. [1]

Sita Air operates services to the following domestic destinations:
Lukla, Pokhara, Tumlingtar, Dhangadi, Janakpur, Bajhang, Biratnagar, Jomsom, Nepalganj, Dang, Kathmandu, Simikot, Chaurjhari and Surkhet. [2]

- 1 October 2004 - Sita Air Dornier 228 suffered a nose gear collapse on landing and slid, coming to rest blocking the single runway at Lukla Airport. As a result the airport was closed for two days. [3]
