Sirsi (Kannada: ಶಿರಸಿ) is a town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It is like a hill station populated with around 65,000 people. This town is surrounded with lush green forests & numerous waterfalls. Hubli being the nearest commercial city, business opportunities are plenty. Supari (Areca nut) or (Betel nut) is the primary business of the people. People own Areca nut farms in acres & are satisfying the needs of the people all over India and abroad. Other than areca nut, commodities like cardamom, pepper and vanilla are also grown. Majority of the people in Sirsi speak Kannada and Konkani. Local language is Kannada.

Sirsi is famous for the Marikamba temple, built in 1688. The fabulous Marikamba fair takes place every alternate year. Millions of devotees rush in from all parts of the country to attend this magnificent fair of Sri Marikamba. Just near the Marikamba temple there are temples of Maha Ganapati and Shri Gopalakrishna.

Sirsi is about 425 km from Bangalore. The nearest airport is located in Hubli, about 102 km away.

River Aghanashini takes birth from a place near Sirsi called "Donihalla" and flows towards the Arabian Sea in the West.

Banavasi, an ancient kingdom in Karnataka (state) which was ruled by "Kadamba" dynasty is 24 km away from the Sirsi town center. Banavasi was considered as the "first" capital of Karnataka state, with the current capital being Bangalore. Though much of the look and feel of the dynasty in Banavasi has been lost to modern day developements, an anicent temple for Adikeshwara still exists with all the anicent carvings and paintings. Banavasi is a good place for archeologists and historians to study.

Sahasralinga, translated in the regional dialect Kannada means thousand Shiva (deity) Linga's or scultptures which are carved on stones and they are situated within a flowing river. The river is surrounded by lush green forest; the place is nearly 10 km away from the town center. Usually the place is free of visitors except on "Maha Shivaratri" celebration days.

Sirsi, the forgotten paradise is one of the best tourist places in Karnataka, nestled in the idyllic western ghats has spectacular views of the Sahyadri mountain ranges.It is surrounded with the Wild and untamed hilly terrains and numerous beautiful and undiscovered natural waterfallses.
