Sirara

At the beginning of 3rd dynasty of Ur Sirara was a temple complex which housed a number of competent administrators and officials responsible for the infrastructure connecting the Gutians and neighboring Lagash which at the time were both completely independent city states.

Both states were expansionist and cooperated in building roads, bridges, wharves, quays, and public buildings. The defining context of the period is Gudeas rebuilding of the temple of Ningursu. Statues of Gudea have been preserved with one of the earliest known standards of measure, a bronze rod of 1/2 meter in length.
