Sione's Wedding (also marketed outside New Zealand as Samoan Wedding), is a 2006 comedic film written by James Griffin and Oscar Kightley, and produced by South Pacific Pictures.

It reached the number one position in the New Zealand box office in its first week of release and the biggest opening weekend of any New Zealand-made film. It has held the number two position since, with total box office taking of over $3 million.

It also received press attention in New Zealand after Onehunga High School was threatened with legal action, because students were shown a pirated version at a school camp.

[edit] Plot

Set in Auckland, New Zealand the film centres around four Samoan boys: Michael, Sefa, Stanley and Albert, who although they are in their mid 20's to early 30's have a reputation for behaving immaturely at special occasions such as family weddings. After four particular incidents (including having sex in the limousine of the bride and groom; dropping the bride while she was hoisted up on their shoulders; getting drunk and passing out while going through the wedding cake and the table; and setting a reception hall on fire), the local minister of their Samoan Church rules that the four boys are to be banned from their friend Sione's wedding.

This is hard news for the boys, (Michael was supposed to be the best man), but the minister relents - they are allowed to come but "...they must find themselves girlfriends and be in serious relationships." The theory is that if they do have girlfriends, they are most likely to spend their time with them, "...and not cause any trouble".

While the boys think it's a easy plan, they soon realise that finding a girlfriend isn't as easy as it looks.
