Siniša Mihajlović (Serbian Cyrillic: Синиша Михајловић) (born February 20, 1969 in Vukovar, SFR Yugoslavia, now Croatia) is a retired Serbian football player. Born in Vukovar, he grew up in the Borovo naselje borough and started playing football at NK Borovo. He is a very effective free kick taker, and with his left foot he has scored numerous goals on direct free kicks from the defender position, including a hat-trick of free kicks for Lazio in a Serie A match against Sampdoria, which earned him the nickname Bomber from Borovo.

At club level, Mihajlović has played for Vojvodina Novi Sad (1988-91), Red Star Belgrade (1991-92), Roma (1992-94), Sampdoria (1994-98), Lazio (1998-2004). In the summer 2004 he was released from Lazio and joined his friend Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan on a free transfer, signed as a one-year deal.

Arguably his biggest success at club level is winning the European Cup in the 1990/91 season with Red Star Belgrade, defeating Olympique Marseille on penalties, after a 0-0 draw at full time, with Mihajlović being one of the scorers. In the semifinals against Bayern Munich, played in Belgrade, he scored a key goal from his typical free kick situation. Mihajlović was also in the team later that year when Red Star Belgrade won the Intercontinental Cup, defeating Colo Colo 3-0.

Mihajlović has 63 caps and scored 10 goals for the Serbia and Montenegro national team. He played in the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000. He has since retired from international football.

He received a one-match ban after calling then-Arsenal footballer Patrick Vieira a "black piece of s***," after Vieira called him a "Gypsy piece of s***" [1].

Mihajlović has a Serbian father and Croatian mother and himself was born in Yugoslavia. He could have played for either Croatia or FR Yugoslavia (now Serbia, formerly Serbia & Montenegro). He was part of the golden generation of Yugoslav players who won the World Youth Cup in Chile 1987. Players such as Prosinečki, Boban, Mijatović, Brnović, Štimac and Jarni of the 1987 team were all unable to play in the 1994 World Cup due to war in Yugoslavia, however this was the time when these players were at peak.

On April 9, 2006, in a league away game versus Ascoli Calcio Mihajlović scored his 27th career free-kick goal in Serie A, an absolute record. Mihajlović ended his playing career in 2005/2006, but he is still at Inter Milan as assistant coach of Roberto Mancini.
