Single track (mountain biking)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Description
The term single track is primarily used today as a term for mountain biking trails. Single track in terms of mountain biking can be bi directional or single direction loops. A single track can be a way of describing a fire road, a down hill trail, old rail line trail, or a cross country style trail.
Many mountain bikers consider single-track riding - riding on trails that are wide enough for just one biker at a time - to be the sport's pinnacle and the purest form of the sport.
Top MTB races, such as South Africa's Giants Challenge contain extensive technical single-track sections.
