Singapore Volunteer Corps

The Singapore Volunteer Corps was a militia unit which was established in 1854 but was disbanded in 1887. However, they were reorganized in the early 20th century to encompass all volunter units in Singapore. In 1954 the Singapore Volunteer Corps were absorbed into the Singapore Military Forces. David Marshall, a well known figure in the early politics of independent Singapore, is noted to have served in the Singapore Volunteer Corps.
