Singapore Technologies Kinetics (ST Kinetics) is the land systems and specialty vehicles arm of ST Engineering.

ST Kinetics is involved in many defense-related projects in Singapore. Examples include the SAR-21 rifle and the Bionix AFV. It also manufactures weapons and ammunition for export. These weapons and ammunition are often made to US and/or NATO specifications.

[edit] History

Chartered Industries of Singapore (CIS) was incorporated in 1967. CIS started out by supporting the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in weapons and ammunition. Originally armed with AR-15s and the ealier series of M16s during the 70's, the SAF was later supplied with M-16S1 (similar to the M-16A1) rifles built by CIS under license from Colt's Manufacturing Company. Other locally designed weapons from CIS include the Ultimax 100 SAW, the SAR-80 and the SR-88 assault rifles.

Originally an independent member of Singapore Technologies, CIS was later acquired in 2002 by ST Engineering through ST Auto to form Singapore Technologies Kinetics (ST Kinetics).
