[edit] Your Artwork

Hello! I've noticed your artwork posted in a few articles here. It's lovely stuff, but I'm afraid that it doesn't add anything useful to the articles. Plus, they're rather large images. If you want to display your work, why not create a small gallery on your userpage and/or article? If you make smaller thumbnails for the images, it would look quite nice and you'd still be able to show everyone what you do. They also wouldn't clutter up the other articles...some of which are already a bit image-packed. What do you think? DiscordantNote 16:54, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you verey much for your comments. I wasn't sure about putting the images there but I take your point.

Cheers

[edit] Guggenheim

Hey. For the same reasons cited by DiscordantNote above, I removed your image from the Guggenheim article. The Brill Building painting is another matter; we don't have a good picture for that, so your painting will serve quite nicely. I have moved it around to match the general style a little better.

I have long since wondered something about the Brill Building, and having painted it, perhaps you know. Just whose head is that above the door? I suspect it's Irving Berlin, but I've never been able to confirm it. Anyhow, thanks for letting Wikipedia use your paintings. Bgruber 07:52, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Bgruber

Thank you very much for your comments. I am new to Wikipedia postings etc and don't wish to "overstep" the mark. Just trying to make a valid contribution.

Anyway i think the statute over the door is of the orignal owner of the building who sold clothes. He went broke later and then the building took on ot's musical slant. (But please don't quote me - it's just something I think I read)

Anyway - thanks again.

I'll post more pictures in due course.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Grand Central Terminal Wikipedia.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Grand Central Terminal Wikipedia.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:08, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] On images

Hi Simon! Thank you very much for your great drawings and paintings. In many cases, they truly improve our articles.

However, image credits go onto the image description page in Wikipedia, not onto the images themselves. For instance, we mention the artist at the page Image:Dakota Wikipedia.jpg, but in general not on the image itself. (Of course, if an image has a small signature in a corner, that's fine.) Especially frowned-upon is including a URL within the image—that looks too much like an attempt to advertise that site. I have therefore removed the "www.simonfieldhouse.com" from all the images you've uploaded so far.

Also, please watch out that the article Simon Fieldhouse does not become a showcase. As someone else already remarked on the talk page, such showcases are much better placed on your site, which is linked from the article. One representative example of your work is enough. (Or maybe a few, such as one of your judges' drawings, to show that you do more than "just" architectural drawings). A whole gallery is probably not appropriate. Besides, I guess it's much easier to maintain your showcase on your own web site.

Thanks again for your valuable contributions! Cheers, Lupo 09:57, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Re Royal Academy: yeah, I think that's ok. Your drawing shows the proportions of the building much better than the current lead photograph. The image would make even more sense if the article had a section on the architecture of the building... BTW, to sign posts on talk pages (like this one), you can just type four tildes at the end of your post: ~~~~. They will be replaced automatically by a signature composed of your username and a timestamp when you save the page. For me, that gives Lupo 23:34, 14 December 2006 (UTC).

Thanks Lipo```` Thanks LupoSimonfieldhouse 06:24, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
