"Simple Kind of Life" was the 3rd single from No Doubt's fourth album Return of Saturn. The song was released in August 2000.
The track was written and composed by Gwen Stefani during a last minute recording session. It was recorded, with no rehearsals, the following Monday. Adrian Young's drum parts were mixed through lo-fi filters to get the feel of a power ballad.[1]
[edit] Video
The video was directed by Sophie Muller. In it, Gwen wears a wedding dress that she had designed. The song and video showcase Stefani's thoughts, doubts and desires, such as being a mom and building her family.
