Simon Nicol

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simon John Breckenridge Nicol, born October 13, 1950, Muswell Hill, North London is an English folk rock guitarist and singer. He is a founding member and the longest-serving member of Fairport Convention. He also played in various line-ups of the Albion Band, and with Richard Thompson both live and on record. Although he is most well-known for his membership of the aforementioned bands, he is also a solo artist, with two albums released at the turn of the 1990s.

It fair to say that without Nicol's steady rhythm guitar as a backdrop, Richard Thompson never could have established himself as the premiere electric guitarist produced by the British folk-rock movement.
