[edit] Indecent act in public
On July 25, 2005 Deering was in Cairns, Queensland doing a promotional spot for Big Brother. Deering and an unnamed 22 year old woman were charged with committing an indecent act in public. Choosing to represent himself in court, Deering claimed that there was no sexual connotation and the incident was a simple misunderstanding. Deerings defence would have been somewhat more credible had he been wearing pants during his hearing. He was released on AU$100 bail.
In September 2005 Deering pleaded guilty to three charges, and was fined AU$1,000. Source News Ltd
