Simon Brown (footballer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Simon Brown (born 18 September 1983 in West Bromwich) is an English footballer. He currently plays for League Two side Mansfield Town, where he usually plays as a striker, and sometimes on the right wing.
Brown began his career at West Bromwich Albion, but never played a single match for the Baggies' first team. Following two loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, the pacy winger joined Mansfield for a £50,000 transfer fee in December 2004.
Initially, Brown struggled to make an impact at Mansfield. However, as the 2005/06 season got underway, he began to live up to expectations, and has become a firm fans' favourite at Field Mill. Having been converted from right-winger to striker, he has formed an excellent strike partnership with Richard Barker. Despite being bothered by a hamstring injury, and later a hernia problem, Brown has scored 12 goals in 2005/06.
