The Simmie McAleer cup is an alternative to the Sam Maguire Gaelic football trophy. It has been named after a local of Galbally, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He was a great enthusiast of Gaelic football and the supporting of his local Gaelic Football team, Galbally GAA.
