Silvery River
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- "Great Sky River" can also refer to a novel, Great Sky River, by Gregory Benford.
The silvery river of the heaven is the great swath of white or silver nebulosity that is the plane of the disc of the Milky Way. The name silvery river comes from China, and is used through East Asia, such as Korea (eunha) and Japan (ginga). In the west, it is called the Milky Way. The nebulosity is greatest in the constellation of Sagittarius, which is where the galactic core is.
