Silverstream is a suburb of Upper Hutt City in the lower North Island of New Zealand. It is located at the southern end of the city, close to the Taita Gorge which separates Upper Hutt from its neighbour Lower Hutt. Schools are Silverstream Kindergarten, Silverstream Christian School, Silverstream School and St. Patrick's College.
Pinehaven is a picturesque valley adjacent to Silverstream, set further back into the eastern pine clad hills. Its focus point is the large reserve and Pinehaven school.
Located in Silverstream is the Silver Stream Railway, a heritage railway operating a number of preserved locomotives that formerly worked on New Zealand's national rail network. One of these locomotives is a C class engine that is over 130 years old. The Railway periodically holds special themed days, such as a "Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends Day", and these are particularly popular with children. The Railway's line follows a section of the route that was formerly part of the Wairarapa Line before a deviation was opened in 1954.
