Silver Street

Silver Street is a radio soap-opera, the first soap-opera aimed at the British South Asian community. It was introduced in 2004 into the Sonia Deol show on the BBC Asian Network which from 24 April 2006 was replaced by the Anita Rani Programme it is from 15 May 2006 first aired 13:30-13:45 during Nikki Bedi every weekday, the weeks episodes on the Silver Street Omnibus from 16:00 to 18:30 every Sunday and was initially repeated on the Drive Programme every weekday from 19:20 to 19:30 until 12 May 2006.

The Storyline is focused around a primarily British South Asian Community located in an English Town of unspecified name and location. The storyline normally is based along themes related to issues that in real life affect the British South Asian Community and others from other communities in the same areas.

There have been many guest stars including Saeed Jaffrey playing the family doctor of the Chauhan's who appeared in the story at a point when the character Roopa was struggling with anorexia, Sonia Deol on one occasion made a guest appearance as herself popping into a shop on the street, Toyah Willcox [1] made an appearance playing the estranged mother of major Silver Street character Sean Brady.
