Sillery
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sillery can refer to:
- the commune called Sillery in the Marne département, in France
- the district (formerly City) of Sillery, now part of Quebec City, in Canada
- one of several notable figures from French history, including Noël Brûlart de Sillery after whom the district in Quebec is named.
- In literature, Sillery generally refers to the wine from the French commune; it is the wine that Jack Aubrey habitually serves at parties, while Longfellow's poem Catawba Wine contains this stanza:
- Very good in its way
- Is the Verzenay,
- Or the Sillery soft and creamy;
- But Catawba wine
- Has a taste more divine,
- More dulcet, delicious, and dreamy.
