Sillery

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sillery can refer to:

  • one of several notable figures from French history, including Noël Brûlart de Sillery after whom the district in Quebec is named.
  • In literature, Sillery generally refers to the wine from the French commune; it is the wine that Jack Aubrey habitually serves at parties, while Longfellow's poem Catawba Wine contains this stanza:
Very good in its way
Is the Verzenay,
Or the Sillery soft and creamy;
But Catawba wine
Has a taste more divine,
More dulcet, delicious, and dreamy.
