[edit] History

Silent Civilian was formed by Jonny Santos, who is best known as the vocalist (and song writer) for the Grammy nominated music group Spineshank. After Santos departed Spineshank in 2004, he formed a new project that was initially called "Silent Civilians". The band, under that name, signed with Corporate Punishment Records on January 7, 2005.[1]

The band's name was changed in May of 2005 to "Silent Civilian", when it was announced that they had departed Corporate Punishment Records "for reasons [we are] unable to discuss".[2]

On June 7, 2005, guitarist Ryan Ready left the band due to personal reasons. Tim Mankowski was named as his replacement.[3]

On November 5, 2005, Silent Civilian signed with "Mediaskare Records".

Their debut album titled Rebirth of the Temple was released on May 2, 2006. It was produced by former Machine Head guitarist, Logan Mader.

In a July, 2006 interview with Live-Metal.net, Santos stated that guitarist Marcus Rafferty and bassist Stan Derby had joined the band on a trial period. He also went on to say the band was planning on recording a tribute EP, covering such bands as Sacred Reich, Death Angel, Exodus and Testament.[4]

As of August 23, 2006, Rebirth of the Temple had sold 12,816 copies in the United States.[5]

[edit] Influences

According to their MySpace page, the band claims its influences come from such bands as Refused, Hatebreed, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Dog Fashion Disco, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Tool and Sick of It All.
