Sigerson Cup
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sigerson Cup is the championship for top division of university Gaelic Football in Ireland. It is adminstrated by the Higher Education committee which is part of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The HE committee also oversees the Trent Cup (effectively Division 2) and the Fitzgibbon Cup (which is the Hurling university championship).
In 1911, the Sigerson cup was first presented by Professor Sigerson to foster unity amongst the constituent colleges of the National Universities of Ireland, which was won for the first time by UCD.
