SIG plc

SIG plc is an international supplier of insulation, roofing, commercial interiors and specialist construction products.

The Group operates in the several Western European countries and the USA, and serves a wide range of markets across the full spectrum of the building, construction, petro-chemical and process sectors. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

The first insulation distribution branch was founded by Ernest Norman Adsetts and opened in Sheffield as Sheffield Insulations Limited in 1956. His son Norman Adsetts (now Sir Norman) joined the firm in 1966; he became Managing Director (1970) then Chairman (1985). The company became Sheffield Insulations Group plc in 1989 and was renamed SIG plc in 1995. In May 1996 Norman stepped down from the Board and became Honorary Life President. In 2002, David Williams was appointed Chief Executive.
