The sIG 33 (schwere Infanterie Geschütz 33) was a German 150 mm close support infantry gun used in the Second World War. The gun used was the standard German infantry Heavy field cannon.
It was first mounted on a Panzer I chassis and given armored side skirts, but this was soon found to be unbalanced and it had a huge recoil which made it very dangerous to fire for it could turn over on itself. Since the Panzer I chassis was found to be ineffective, production switched to the Panzer II, and later the Panzer III when it was removed from frontline service. One type of SiG 33 was a Panzer III type with an almost vertical glacis plate and a mounted MG 34. The Panzer IV-based vehicle, Brummbär, carried a slightly modified sIG 33 Howitzer.
