Talk:Sif

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Didn't someone end up with a golden boar as a result of this story? Along with the ship, hair and spear, I could've sworn there's a boar... --Dante Alighieri 17:42, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Where did dark elves come from? I'm almost certain that it was the dwarves that made Sif's hair.

[edit] Sif/Jarnsaxa

Hello,

I've found a lot of reference to Jarnsaxa as a hypostasis (same god, with other name) of Sif. What is you point of view on that ?

Best regards Olivier, France.

[edit] Stylistic Concern

Thor's name was spelled two different ways-- in standard English and non-standard English characters-- and Thrud and Odin were spelled only in non-standard characters. Whichever style is used, should be used consistently through the article, and as this is the English encyclopedia I think that standard English spellings should be used. Spelling "Th" with a Þ seems excessively pedantic and reader-unfriendly. I changed that and put the Norse spellings in parentheses for those who are curious. If someone feels strongly enough the other way and wants to change it, I won't have any heartburn, but I would suggest that the English spellings at least be mentioned in parentheses for the sake of readers who don't know what "Þórr" is. [edit] Sif location

Sif, SIF, and Sif (disambiguation) are three separate articles that would all be assigned the name of "Sif" independently. However only one can have the main page and I believe that it should be the TLA SIF, since the disambiguation can stay as Sif (disambiguation) and Sif can be moved to Sif (NorseMythology) or Sif (Norse mythology). Whichever article takes the page of Sif should also have SIF as a redirect so that there is no confusion when searching for either in the search bar. That is the main reason why I am proposing this move as it is very confusing to have two pages, "SIF" (TLA) and "Sif" (Norse God). -- Wiz9999 17:04, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Problem solved with SIF and Sif (disambiguation) merge into SIF (disambiguation) -- Wiz9999 20:20, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
