Siege Perilous was the name of two devices in the Marvel Universe, created by comic book writer Chris Claremont

  • More well-known is the Siege Perilous featured in X-Men. This Siege Perilous, which first appeared in X-Men #227 (1988), was a collapsable extra-dimensional gateway with mystical powers. Appearing as a jeweled, hand-held artifact when inactive, the Siege Perilous grew in size when opened. Those who passed through the Siege Perilous were judged by mysterious entities and then teleported back to Earth, usually naked and amnesiac and often substantially transformed in some way. The Siege Perilous featured prominently in the history of Psylocke and Rogue, among other X-Men characters.
