Sidney Parsons

Sidney Parsons (? 1893 - April 22, 1955) was a Canadian politician and mayor of Edmonton, Alberta from 1949 to 1951.
He was born in Devon, England but moved to New Jersey with his family and studied at technical schools there. He originally was a bricklayer and construction contractor. He moved to Edmonton in 1910 but quickly joined the Canadian Army and fought in World War I. After the war, he was elected as city alderman from 1938 to 1949 and eventually mayor. He was also a large labour advocate having served as the President of the Edmonton Trades and Labour council.
In the 1935 Alberta provincial election Parsons ran for Member of the Legislative Assembly in Edmonton for the Labour Party but finished last in a field of 27 candidates with 52 votes.
Parsons Road in Edmonton was named in his honour.
