Sidi Mohamed Ould Boubacar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sidi Mohamed Ould Boubacar (born 1945) is the current Prime Minister of Mauritania. He was appointed on August 7, 2005, following a military coup on August 3, by Col. Ely Ould Mohamed Vall, head of the Military Council for Justice and Democracy. Boubacar's appointment came shortly after the resignation of Sghair Ould M'Bareck, ousted president Maaouya Ould Taya's last prime minister.[1] During Taya's presidency, Boubacar had been prime minister from 1992 until he was dismissed on January 2, 1996.[2] He was subsequently his country's ambassador in France, beginning in 2004.[1] He is a member of PRDR, Mauritania's biggest party.
Like the members of Military Council for Justice and Democracy, Boubacar will not be allowed to run for president in planned 2007 elections.[3]
