Sicilian, Taimanov Variation


In chess, B47 is the ECO code for the Sicilian, Taimanov (Bastrikov) Variation chess opening. The game begins 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nc6 5.Nc3 Qc7. White can proceed one of several ways: 6.g3 or Be2 and to a lesser extent 6.Nxc6, Nb3, f4 or Ndb5. Black plays a defensive game. Milan Matulovic has played this opening as Black in international competition nearly 100 times. Mark Taimanov has taken the Black side over 30 times.
