Shy Ghost is a noise rock/experimental/electronic band based in Seattle, Washington, USA. They formed while all were undergraduates at the University of Washington and are currently signed to RDR Records. The group is unique in that their members never received formal musical training, instead relying on music production software packages featured on their laptops, their combined record collections, and shared artistic visions to create a psychedelic electronic sound.
They are notorious for minimal, often icy interaction with audience members at their performances, long song lengths, and for using a variety of obscure, sometimes hand crafted instruments (including a guitar built out of a water noodle). Although these instruments play some role in forming the band's distinct sound, much of the music itself is produced through the music sequencer programs on their laptops. The group has cited Black Dice, 13 & God, and Anton Newcombe as influences.
As of October, 2006 the band is currently working on their first EP for RDR Records (tentatively titled With Teeth...), although their first single, "You Were Right (It Was In)", has already received airplay.
